Significant Surge in Work Visas for Healthcare Professionals


In the year ending June 2023, there was a significant increase in work visas granted to main applicants, particularly in the ‘Skilled Worker – Health and Care’ category. The overall ‘Worker’ visas granted to main applicants rose by 78% compared to the previous year with a substantial 157% increase in ‘Health and Care’ visas (74,096 more visas granted).

Distribution of ‘Health and Care’ Visas Granted

In the period ending June 2023, approximately half of the visas issued within the ‘Health and Care Worker’ visa category were allocated to individuals in the roles of ‘Care workers and home carers.’

Top Nationalities Granted Health and Care Visas

Indian nationals emerged as the leading nationality in the ‘Skilled Worker – Health and Care’ visa category, accounting for nearly one-third (28%) of all visa grants.

Top Nationalities of Dependants on Health and Care Visas

Indian nationals represented 33% of visas granted to dependants of health and care visa holders. This is reflective that India was the top nationality granted ‘Skilled Worker – Health and Care’ visas for main applicants.
